Shoichi Okouchi, a scientist focusing on hot springs and an emeritus professor of the Hosei University in Japan, checked 21 hot springs in Taiwan from July 30 to August 6, 2019 to see the water’s ORP (oxidation reduction potential)) and pH value, as well as temperature. The professor and his team drew water from a total of 52 spots. They noted that the quality of spring water lies in its ORP, and the spring water in Taiwan is fresh and generally of high ORP, even better than that in Japan and Europe. Professor Okouchi hailed Taiwan’s hot springs as “rejuvenating springs that can make people young again!”
