Beigang Rivers

Situated near Cingliou Village, the area around the Nangang and Beigang rivers was settled by Atayal aboriginals after the Wushe Incident during the Japanese colonial period. At that time the area was known as Kawanakashima, and currently there are plans to rename the springs here as the "Kawanakashima Hot Springs."

Special Features

The Nangang and Beigang river springs are fed by slightly alkaline carbonic acid water. The water is drawn from a 607-meter deep well in the Hehuan Mountain Range and emerges at a temperature of 42 degrees centigrade. In 2003, Vice President Annette Lu named the springs the "Hehuan Sacred Springs.". At the Atayal Resort, bathers can enjoy hot, tepid and cold water pools as well as hydrotherapy facilities. The hot spring water is sterilized and replaced daily to maintain high sanitary and quality standards.
